Weight Control Expert Says CalorieKing.com Ideal for Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

CalorieKing Success Story: Callie went from 230 to 140 lbs!

La Mesa, CA (PRWEB) December 23, 2009

It happens every year. The holidays hit and celebration mode kicks in, with indulgence in good times and food that can be hard to resist. Although the pounds put on during the holidays can be dieted away short-term, they’re likely to come right back and stay. It’s usually holiday weight gain that’s responsible for those nagging few pounds gained every year.

So how can holiday weight be kept at bay? Quit dieting. Instead, try to hold the line on the amount of calories taken in so instead of gaining five pounds, only gain two. Science-based CalorieKing.com, freshly updated and enhanced, is an ideal tool for losing and maintaining weight, according to Dallas weight control and obesity expert Dr. Lewis Pincus.

“Dieting is a quick fix and the weight comes back. For permanent weight loss, it’s a matter of keeping track of your calories. Research shows us that keeping records is the only way you’re going to succeed with long-term weight control,” said Dr. Pincus.

Dr. Pincus uses newly updated CalorieKing.com in his weight control program to help patients lose and manage weight. The site uses the latest interactive weight loss tools to instantly convert food and activity into calories so users can see how they’re doing in hitting their daily calorie target.

“My patients use the online CalorieKing program because the tools make it easy to stay on top of calories and exercise. They also get a good understanding of the science of weight control and their relationship with food through tutorials. Support is important, too, so the online community is a true benefit,” said Dr. Pincus, who keeps track of his patients’ progress through CalorieKing’s health professional site.

Like all CalorieKing members, Dr. Pincus’ patients use an online diary to track meals, snacks and exercise. The easy-to-use interface lets the users drag and drop selections from the 55,000-plus items in the food database, which includes food from popular restaurants. They also track physical activity and how much water they’re drinking.

The CalorieKing diary and food database are eye-openers. Eating a typical holiday meal of ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, a dinner roll with butter and a slice of commercially-made apple pie, for instance, puts roughly 839 calories into your body. To get rid of those calories you’d have to walk for more than four hours, jog for almost two hours or ride a bike for two-plus hours. And that’s just one meal.

“Go ahead and enjoy the holidays,” said Dr. Pincus. “Pick a date to get back to your everyday control routine.”

To begin watching holiday weight today there are tools available to help keep track of calories and exercise. Join the interactive program at CalorieKing.com , or use the book CalorieKing Calorie, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter, a pedometer or a portion control plate to get started.

Shane Whaley Shares Juicing Secrets Fuelling Heroic 70 Pound Weight Loss

Shane Whaley Shares Juicing Secrets Fuelling Heroic 70 Pound Weight Loss

Weighing 250 pounds in 2009

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2011

RunningonJuice.com announces the immediate availability of a slim, easy to follow, but effective Juicing for Weight Loss Starter Guide. Based on blog founder Shane Whaley’s own astonishing 70 pound weight loss, the 31-page guide and video is a proven road map to total body transformation. Once merely a sedentary statistic, Whaley now excels as a distance runner.

“Many people think that juicing is for alternative or ‘new age’ types of people. I am as far from that stereotype as you can get,” says Whaley. “I work in the corporate world, but I believe juicing is the healthiest way to lose weight and use nature’s fuel for optimum nutrition. Being 70lbs lighter has transformed my life in so many ways. I hope to share my strategies so that others can take the plunge and get out of the rut.”

2 years ago, Shane would have laughed at the thought of running a half marathon. He couldn’t even run for five minutes without having to stop for a break! Similar to Joe Cross from the documentary ‘Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead’. He described himself as a “fat business guy” with “poor eating habits and a complete lack of exercise.” He found his redemption by stumbling across a juicing book by Jason Vale. Whaley says, “My life instantly changed forever. In fact, I went on to shed 70 pounds, and burn six inches off of my waist.” Not only did he start to look better, but he felt better and noticed an improvement in his health and his career. He landed a ‘dream’ transfer from Sweden to San Francisco and has been promoted twice. He puts this down to the extra energy levels that juicing and his weight loss has given him.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about one-third of adults in the United States are obese, and it doesn’t stop there. Obesity has been called a “global epidemic” by the World Health Organization, and the founder of RunningonJuice.com, Shane Whaley, has set out to do his part in the fight against this growing trend. He has recently made available a free starter guide for those interested in beginning an all natural, juicing diet. Along with the informative, 31 page guide, is a video that details his own weight loss journey, and some of the strategies that led to his inspirational success.

Whaley has kept the weight off ever since he began his juicing habit, and he is now a running enthusiast. He has participated in two half marathons, and his career has skyrocketed. He created his blog, RunningonJuice, to help support those who want to start running, those who want to lose weight through juicing, and those who want to participate in a more healthy diet through juicing. The free starter guide includes his favorite recipes, resources and tips. Interested parties can find the starter guide, and his free video, on his blog, at http://www.runningonjuice.com.

United Security Life and Health Life Insurance Offers Tips to Prevent Unhealthy Weight Gain During the Holiday Season

United Security Life and Health Life Insurance Offers Tips to Prevent Unhealthy Weight Gain During the Holiday Season

Bedford Park, IL (PRWEB) October 31, 2011

Statistics show that the average American gains one to two pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. And although that does not seem like a lot, statistics also show that most Americans do not lose that weight. (http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/holiday-foods-diet) Year after year, those extra pounds can add up and contribute to being overweight or obesity later in life. United Security Life and Health Insurance Company offer an easy to follow guide to help avoid holiday weight gain this year.

“With the already hectic schedules most Americans have, and then adding-in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, along with festive parties, healthy eating and exercise are usually the first things to go. The result unfortunately is unwanted and unhealthy extra pounds by the start of the New Year,” explained Leonard Hertko, M.D., Medical Advisor, United Security Life and Health. “No one wants to be on a strict diet over the holidays. We all want to enjoy the abundance of traditional favorite foods. This can be achieved with a little planning and keeping-in-mind a few healthy tips.”

Dr. Hertko offers the following tips this holiday season:

1.     Never go to a party hungry. It is important not to skip meals or go to a festive function on an empty stomach. If you do, you are more likely to overeat and consume extra calories.

2.    Watch your alcohol consumption. In addition to the dangers of consuming too much alcohol, drinks are loaded with empty calories that can add-up fast. Alcohol can expand your appetite since it causes an increase in the acid level in your stomach, which in turn makes you feel hungrier.

3.    Stay active. People who are more active during the holidays do not gain weight. It is important to squeeze at least 15 extra minutes of exercise into your day. This can easily be achieved by taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator, taking the dog for a walk, or doing something active with your children. The point is, you want to balance your exercise level with your calorie consumption. By doing this, you will not gain that extra holiday weight.

4.    Keep your portions small. When going through the buffet line, do not load-up your plate with giant size portions. Smaller sized samples of your favorite foods will keep you satisfied and will help avoid that overstuffed, uncomfortable feeling.

5.    Make smart choices. To shave calories, go easy on the nuts, cheeses, cream sauces, gravy, butter, and whipped cream. All of these foods are high in fat and will quickly increase your calorie intake. Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, both offer less calories and are healthier for you. Enjoy just one of your favorite desserts, and stay away from eating handfuls of cookies and other small desserts which you are more likely to over eat on.

Dr. Hertko concluded, “If you keep these helpful tips in mind, when you attend your next holiday gathering you will be armed with the tools needed to manage your calorie intake and avoid those extra holiday pounds. Obesity can lead to potentially serious health problems including heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. In addition, being obese can affect a person’s overall quality of life which can lead to depression.”

Hypothyroidism Author and Weight Loss Expert Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D., Applauds New Focus on Obesity-Causing Thyroid Problems

Hypothyroidism Author and Weight Loss Expert Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D., Applauds New Focus on Obesity-Causing Thyroid Problems

Miami, FL (PRWEB) October 19, 2007

Renowned weight loss doctor and author Sanford Siegal, D.O., M.D., best known as the creator of the popular Dr. Siegal’s COOKIE DIET™ weight loss system, applauds the sudden renewed interest in hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is an often undiagnosed disease that slows metabolism and causes a host of cruel symptoms including depression, dry skin, infertility and, most notably, obesity. In his most recent book, Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat? (Warner Books, 2000), Dr. Siegal takes issue with his fellow physicians who he says rely too heavily on questionable laboratory tests and ignore the obvious signs of a metabolic problem in their overweight patients.

“I’ve treated more than a half million overweight patients during the past fifty years. I’ve ordered thousands of thyroid lab tests and I can tell you they are highly unreliable,” said Dr. Siegal. “I’ve ordered the same test on the same person several days in a row and gotten widely conflicting results.”

During an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America in 2003, Dr. Siegal told host Charles Gibson that he estimates that one out of four overweight patients come to him with a thyroid problem that has gone undiagnosed by their family physicians.

“We have to handle those patients differently,” Dr. Siegal told host Charles Gibson. “We diagnose the problem and treat it.”

Dr. Siegal has developed his own self-test for determining hypothyroidism which he claims is more accurate than conventional tests. The test, which appears in his book, involves evaluating the patient’s weight loss while on a fixed calorie diet and comparing that result with the expected standard.

According to Dr. Siegal, many overweight people truthfully tell their family doctors that they don’t overeat and yet can’t lose weight even on a low calorie diet. Often doctors don’t believe their patients and accuse them of overeating.

“I’ve received thousands of emails and letters from readers who said that they felt vindicated when they read the book,” added Dr. Siegal. “For years, they’d been told that their obesity, depression, and other medical problems were caused by their lack of willpower when, in fact, the culprit was a sluggish metabolism.”

In addition to his concern about the methods some of his colleagues use to diagnose hypothyroidism, Dr. Siegal is equally critical of the most commonly prescribed medication for treating the problem, levothyroxine. According to Dr. Siegal, this synthetic form of thyroid hormone is less effective than the natural form known as Armour thyroid or Thyroid USP.

“The tragic thing about undiagnosed hypothyroidism and the devastating effects it has on millions of lives is that it is generally easy to treat with natural thyroid hormone, an inexpensive, well-tolerated medication,” added Dr. Siegal.

ABOUT SANFORD SIEGAL, D.O., M.D.

Dr. Sanford Siegal is a practicing physician whose Miami, Florida-based medical practice, Siegal Medical Group, has treated obesity exclusively since 1960. He is the author of several books on topics ranging from high fiber dieting to drug-free hunger control to hypothyroidism. Dr. Siegal is frequently the subject of news reports and has been profiled by Fox News Channel, CNN, Woman’s World, It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle and many other media outlets.

Answer by vball chick
To lose 20 lbs this summer you have to do a few simple things:
-eat less junk food (ice cream, cookies, cake, sugary cereal..etc)
-do AT LEAST 30 minutes of excercise a day every day (you can always take one day off)
**swimming, treading water, biking, walking…..make sure to get a variety of excercises
-stay positive and don’t always stare at your body, but i have heard that if you weigh yourself on the scale more often that will make you want to lose more weight!
-lastly- DO NOT do anything that could harm your body-like skipping meals, or excercising for long amounts of time

What do you think? Answer below!

Does Running Help Lose Weight-How to Lose Weight Running and Lose lbs Naturally

There are basically two types of running that you can do and they are indoor and outdoor. You can lose weight running using either of these but they both have their stories to tell.

Firstly outdoors running is either on grass which is better for your legs and feet and less likely to cause injury or road running which if you haven’t got the correct footwear can cause injury, Either one can be cold and lonely and if you are like me they are just plain boring and result in loss of interest in some people.

Running indoors on the other hand is both warmer and more pleasant and you can talk to others as you are running. You can either run at home on a treadmill or at the local gym or health centre and the main plus of this is that most of the modern treadmills are cushioned to prevent the constant load being placed on the legs and feet by running on a hard surface. If you have ever run on a treadmill and then run on the road outdoors you will know exactly what I mean.

Another plus to the treadmill is that if it is in your gym or health centre there are trained professionals there to guide you on what you need to be doing in order to lose weight running. By exerting yourself like this doing cardiovascular exercise you will sweat and sweat a lot, this is the body detoxifying itself and by drinking more fresh water you are in fact flushing out the impurities in the body and helping it.

]]>

The act of physical exercise will also have the effect of increasing the oxygen level in your body including the rain and other organs which will make you more alert throughout the day and you will feel like you have so much energy too. This is because the metabolism has increased in your body and that is the speed at which the body uses energy produced from food, and this increase in the metabolism is what will help you lose lbs of body weight over the weeks and results in healthy fat loss which is what you need.

You must however undertake regular exercise for this to be any good to your body and if you do want to lose weight running then you must make the time to regularly exercise in this way even 20 or so minutes a day is good for you in the long term. Today’s lifestyle is fast paced and doesn’t really set time aside for exercising but if managed right there is always time somewhere to put in some time for running.

The overall health benefits of losing lbs of your body weight are so overwhelming in the form of heart disease and obesity that you simply cannot ignore it and regular cardiovascular exercising like running will help you lose weight as well as be less likely to suffer from obesity and heart problems, not necessarily now but when you reach an older age, all those years of bad health and neglect will show through in other health related ways.

There are obviously lots of other ways to lose lbs but if you are considering the question does running lose weight then the answer is emphatically yes and it does a whole lot more too.

How To Lose Weight ? Exercise Tips That?ll Take 5 Minutes A Day

Do you want some lose weight excercises that only take 5 minutes a day?

Who doesn’t?

As time is such a precious commodity these days, it seems many of us put exercise on the backburner, low down on our list of priorities.

This is mainly due to the time wasting 60 minute workouts we are all too familiar with.

Well today in this article I hope to solve that problem by showing you how to lose weight with only 5 minutes of exercise a day.

Lose Weight-Excercise Tip #1: Sprint

Have you ever seen an overweight sprinter?

Of course not, they sport some of the most impressive physiques on the planet.

And all they do is sprint for 3-30 seconds at a time.

Sprinting is brutal, but that is why it is so effective. It boosts our fat loss hormones like nothing else, and sends our metabolism through the roof. So a handful of 40 yard sprints will do more for you than an hour of walking ever will.

Alternatively you could box, skip, run, swim or jump on an exercise bike and go flat out for 20 seconds, rest 20 seconds then go again. Do this a total of 7 times and you will be well and truly fried after only 5 minutes (And your body will be so revved up it will continue burning fat for days afterwards!)

Lose Weight-Exercise Tip #2: Go hard as you can for 5 minutes

]]>

Can you remember running the 800 or 1500 at high school?

Well this will bring back some memories!

Grab a stopwatch and jump on an exercise bike, any piece of exercise equipment or for best results go down to the local park and go as fast as you can for 5 minutes straight. Make a note of the distance covered and strive to beat it next week.

Lose Weight-Excercise Tip #3: Lift Heavy

You see if you train hard enough, you only have to train your muscles once a week. Also if you go to complete failure once, that is all you need to reap the benefits.

So if you lift as much weight as is humanly possible for 8-12 reps, that’s all that is required to build muscle, boost your metabolism and burn fat.

And how long would doing 8-12 reps take?

20 seconds.

You could get 3 exercises done in 5 minutes if you were serious.

Lose Weight-Exercise Tip #4: Do only compound lifts

To get the most out of your strength workouts, you can discard isolation exercises than train only one muscle, like bicep curls or triceps kickbacks. This is because your arms are stimulated more efficiently with bigger more complex movements like the bench press or chin ups. So if you are racing for time, you could skip the puny exercises and just focus on the big lifts that deliver the most bang for your buck.

So to sum up, you could definitely start losing weight with only 5 minute of exercise a day. You could strength train every muscle on your body in 2-3, 5 minute strength workouts a week.

In-between these days you could do any of the 5 minute cardio examples I gave you and as long as you watch HOW MUCH you eat, you will begin to see results within a week.

Good luck :)

Just remember though that your diet makes up about 70-80% of your success in losing weight.

HCG Diet Direct Supports New Study Results Indicating a Fast Way to Lose Weight is Most Efficient

HCG Diet Direct Supports New Study Results Indicating a Fast Way to Lose Weight is Most Efficient

HCG Diet Direct

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) August 2, 2010

HCG Diet Direct cites a new study that indicates that a fast way to lose weight is the most efficient method for long term weight loss. Dr. Jeroen Barte, a researcher at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands along with his colleagues presented the findings of their study at the International Congress on Obesity in Stockholm, Sweden on Monday, July 12, 2010.

Barte and colleagues’ findings indicated that regardless of how much weight an individual loses they typically gain back half of the “weight lost” in the following year. That means that dieters who lost a drastic amount of weight initially ended up with the most weight loss in the long term. The researchers concluded that experts should encourage dieters to lose 10% or more of their weight in order to achieve the maximum, long term weight loss results.

Dr. J. Ronald Willis of HCG Diet Direct said, “There has been a stigma placed on any ‘fast way to lose weight’ for years. Recent studies are indicating that this is a mistake. Not only is it a mistake, but it’s a drastic mistake. Every tool should be used in order to overcome the obesity epidemic. And for most…a fast way to lose weight is the most effective method.”

Homeopathic HCG weight loss formula is a fast weight loss diet that can be used to achieve drastic weight loss without invasive procedures. The HCG drops are taken three times daily and paired with a careful eating plan.

The results of the standard 26-30 day program can provide an average of 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per day.
